Lesson Plans

The art workshop is intended to introduce children to drawing and painting skills useful for still life. Nobody, however, becomes a good artist in one day, so I strongly suggested that the teacher spend some future art lessons giving children the chance to practise these skills. At the end of the unit children can look back through their sketchbooks and/or portfolios to see the progress they have made. And don't forget, many of the skills learned will be relevant to future units, such as the rural and urban landscape unit. On the following web pages are some suggestions for activities to reinforce and extend skills children learned in the workshop.

2. Line
