How to Make a Greek Shield

Greek shields of the Classical period were round and had designs painted on them. If you are making a shield for Perseus it needs to have no paint on it so it can be used as a mirror. Below are some designs you can paint on for a general Greek shield.

1.   Cut out a circle of the silver card using compasses or by drawing round something circular.

2.   Glue it to the white card. Be careful to glue the edges down properly.

3.   Cut round the silver card.

4. Fold the piece of card to make a handle shape

5. Glue AND tape the handle onto the middle of the back of the shield.

You can also add some markings on the silver side, using a pencil or maybe a circle painted on around the edge.
