MINOAN FRESCOES

Dolphin fresco, Palace of Knossos, Crete.  6' X 2'.

Minoan Frescoes

The art of ancient Crete, Thera, and the other regions populated by the Minoan civilisation, is to my mind the finest the Greeks have produced. A large number of frescoes have been discovered, mainly in pieces on the floor. These have been reconstructed, and the missing parts 'filled in' by artists and archaeologists. The paintings date from c.1700-1500BC.

The bright colours and graceful, sinuous lines of nature give Minoan art its unique beauty. The pictures on this page are my copies of paintings which may be found in museums or in situ in Greece. They are rendered as they were originally, without signs of restoration or age.

Contact me for commission. Prices vary and depend on size and detail, but range from about £50 to £500 for the largest fresco.
