Lesson Plan: Create a Myth
Curriculum link - Literacy
1. Children choose or are given a god. They read about that god (on my web page perhaps).
2. Each child makes up a myth, based on the god's characteristics. The myth should be consistent with Greek mythology and history (so no spaceships or guns).
3. Some elements the children may want to include: other gods; a hero the god helps or hinders; a monster; magical objects; an argument or contest; a hero praying to the god for help; a journey; a plot which explains some aspect of life, such as Athena turning Arachne the weaver into a spider, or Poseidon's trident which causes storms and earthquakes.
